Petition in support of a streetcar right-of-way

Click here to download a printable PDF version of this petition.

To Toronto Mayor David Miller,
To Toronto City Councillors Walker, Mihevc, Palacio, Nunziata
To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario,

The streetcar tracks along St. Clair Avenue West from Yonge Street to Keele are scheduled for rebuilding in 2005.

We, the undersigned, petition you to support the creation of a dedicated streetcar right-of-way along the entire length of St. Clair Avenue West, from Yonge Street to Keele. This would improve the reliability of streetcar service and reduce short turns. We believe it would also encourage many more people to shop, commute, and walk along St. Clair Avenue West.

Thanks to everyone who signed our petition. This part of our campaign has ended.

Information about this petition

Purpose: We will use the names gathered on this petition to ensure that local councillors (Walker, Mihevc, Palacio, Nunziata), the mayor's office, the environmental assessment team, and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (whose role it is to approve the final assessment) understand that there is significant community demand for a streetcar right-of-way.

Privacy statement: SCRIPT will not share your name and contact information with anyone besides the people who this petition will be delivered to: the four local councillors (Walker, Mihevc, Palacio, Nunziata) and the mayor, the environmental assessment team, and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. To ensure your privacy and to guard against unsolicited e-mail (spam), the information you submit will not be published on this website.

We encourage you to opt-in to receiving updates from SCRIPT; in case you do, you will get blind carbon copies (BCC) of e-mails sent out to all our contacts or you will receive a phone call if you do not have e-mail or choose not to provide it. Sending messages as a BCC ensures your privacy since other people will not see your name.

Security: the field names on this form are not given any recognizable names; they are "f1, f2, f3..." instead of "firstName, lastName..." This reduces the risk that data in transition from your web browser to the server can be meaningfully interpreted by spyware and other malicious programs that you might unknowingly have.

Required information: For a petition to be considered legitimate, it must contain a name and full address that can be verified to exist. If you do not feel comfortable supplying this information, then you may leave this out but your signature might not carry any weight in a formal petition process. We therefore strongly urge you to enter at least your name, street address, and postal code.
