SCRIPT - St Clair Right-of-way Initiative for Public Transit

On September 13 & 14, 2004, the proposal for a Streetcar Right-of-Way will be presented to a joint meeting of three committees of City Council: Planning & Transportation, Works, and TTC. These committees will vote on the proposal and make a recommendation to City Council. In general, City Council relies on the recommendation of these committees to make its decision.

During the meetings on Sept. 13 and 14, the committees will hear deputations (short presentations) from experts on transportation and planning, representatives of community groups, and ordinary residents. This means YOU can have your chance to tell City Council directly that you support this vital project. Or if you don't want to make a deputation, please come out to listen and show your support for those speaking in favour of the proposal.

If you want to speak, you will have up to 5 minutes. You can speak as the representative of a group, or as an individual. You can address specific aspects of the proposal you feel are important. Or you can simply talk about how you think you, your family, and our community will benefit from a streetcar right-of-way.

There will be time for a large number of individual residents to speak and it is important for the councillors to see the diversity of people in our community who support the project.
